Local #174 Application for Apprenticeship

  West Michigan Plumbers, Fitters and Service Trades Local Union No.174 will be accepting applications for its apprenticeship program.  Please apply in person at the Union Office located at 1008 O’Malley Dr. Coopersville, MI 49404 during the times and dates listed below.  To be considered for entry into the apprenticeship, an applicant must provide a copy of his or her high school diploma or GED (unless you are graduating this year), a driver’s license or state identification and pass the math and mechanical aptitude tests.  These tests will be given at the time of application and all pertinent materials including a basic calculator will be provided.  Sample tests are available online by clicking on the links above.  The Local #174 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee  (JATC) will accept a minimum of ten new apprentices into the program. 

  In compliance with Section 30.3(b) of Title 29, CFR part 30, as amended May 12, 1978, the JATC commits to the following Equal Opportunity Pledge:

“The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship, shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. The JATC will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 30, as amended.”

 Application Times and Dates                      

 Monday, May 5th, 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Wednesday May 7th, 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Friday May 9th, 9:00am - 12:00pm


Apply in person at our Union Office located at 1008 O’Malley Dr., Coopersville, MI 49404

Please bring a copy of your high school diploma or GED (unless you are graduating this year) and a valid driver’s license or state I.D.

For over 100 years Local 174 has furnished the most highly skilled, motivated and exceptionally well-trained workforce to West Michigan mechanical contractors, helping to make them more competitive and by far the best value for any customer.  The job may be a power plant, school, hospital, manufacturing facility, personal residence or anything in between.  We install, renovate and maintain plumbing, heating and HVAC systems.

Our geographical jurisdiction includes the counties of Kent, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, Ottawa and Ionia.
